SAVE $$$ on SPAYING/
NEUTERING

Nevada County pet owners can get a certificate to reduce the cost of spaying and neutering their pets.  Save $60 for a female dog, $40 for a male dog, $30 for a female cat, and $15 for a male cat.

Certificates are available at the Nevada County Animal Shelter, and are good at any vet.

Please be a responsible pet owner and save animals' lives by spaying or neutering your pet.

Founders and Board Members of Sammie's Friends

Cheryl Wicks and Curt Romander

Cheryl and Curt loved their Sammie for many years.  They wanted to honor him with his own corporation dedicated to caring for less fortunate animals.  After all, he had welcomed Destiny, Mon-Mon, Teddy, Wilma, Billy, and Plum, as well as countless foster animals into the family.  It was only natural that he help many of his other "friends" to have better lives.  Though Sammie has passed over the Rainbow Bridge, he still "communicates" his support on a daily basis.

Suesan Larsen

Suesan works as a Vet Tech at Mother Lode Veterinary Hospital in Grass Valley.  Her family consists of two kids, a husband, three dogs, six cats, and a horse.  She has a deep passion for animals, and says, "Helping them is like a ministry to me.  I am proud to be part of the board of Sammie's Friends."

Sammie Shar-pei came to live with Cheryl as a 7-week-old puppy in 1991, and has become the inspiration for all of the work that Cheryl and Curt do to help animals.

Sammie passed away in February, 2007 at the ripe old age of 15 years, 11 months, but his dream keeps right on going.  Our dream is that every animal would have as much love and care as Sammie had, and that every family receives as much love and inspiration from their pets as we do.  Since those early puppy days in 1991, Curt and Destiny and Monnie and Teddy and Wilma and Billy have joined us.

We also have foster animals from time to time, like our precious little Plum.  Plum lived with us for over a year as we cared for her medical condition.  She passed over the Rainbow Bridge in May 2006.
